End of an Era at Emirates? Airline Weekly Lounge Episode 15
Is Emirates Airline running out of room to fulfill its jumbo-sized ambitions? The Gulf carrier’s combined second- and third-quarter earnings report went over with another “meh.” Emirates, Qatar Airways, Etihad and—to some degree—nearby Turkish Airlines are all facing big systemic challenges. Too much capacity and not enough places to fly are just a couple concerns. And if you need some evidence, just look to the all-too-quiet Dubai Airshow this week. Earnings season continued outside the Gulf region too. Ryanair set a record. Wizz Air had a whiz-bang performance. WestJet did just fine and Air Canada had a triumph.
