Issue Overview

A global champion? That’s what Air Canada was calling itself as early as 2017, in the midst of an ultra-aggressive intercontinental expansion. But Air Canada wasn’t done. It would subsequently extend its cooperation with United to include a transborder joint venture. It would make peace with Emirates, upgrade its fleet, install a new passenger service system, continue its intercontinental route expansion, and critically, reclaim full ownership and control over its Aeroplan loyalty program. How about 2025 and beyond? Last month, Air Canada shared its latest vision for boosting the airline’s fortunes—it calls the plan “New Frontiers.”
